Click It or Ticket Campaign

In Florida, traffic crashes take the lives of thousands of people each year.  Most of those who die on the road are not buckled up.  Law enforcement agencies across Florida are once again joining the national "Click It or Ticket" safety belt enforcement campaign.  During the crackdown, drivers and passengers will be ticketed if they are not buckled up.  If children under 18 are not properly protected, the driver gets the ticket.  The Jupiter Police Department has joined efforts with the Florida Department of Transportation, Florida Highway Patrol and our friends in neighboring local municipalities to bring awareness and enforcement to drivers within our community.  We will be participating in the "Click It or Ticket" safety belt enforcement campaign beginning May 23, 2011 through June 5, 2011.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Association (NHTSA) reports that 'Click It or Ticket' is the most successful seat belt enforcement campaign ever, helping create the highest national seat belt usage rate of 84 percent.  Coast to coast, day or night, the message is simple - Click It or Ticket.

The cornerstone of NHTSA's seat belt communications program is the national 'Click It or Ticket' May Mobilization.  Every year during this holiday period, law enforcement agencies join forces day and night, from coast-to-coast, for an enforcement blitz that delivers on our message 'Click It or Ticket'.  The Jupiter Police Department joins hundreds of law enforcement officials, highway safety representatives and safety advocates nationwide who have vowed support of the annual mobilization.  High-visibility enforcement such as the 'Click It or Ticket' mobilization is credited with increasing the national seatbelt usage from 58 percent in 1994 to an observed usage rate of 84 percent in 2009.  And belt use saves thousands of lives each year across America.  In 2008 alone, seat belts saved 13,250 lives nationwide.
