We are under the
direction of Thomas V. Driscoll, P.E., Director of Engineering and
Public Works. The Public Works Division is responsible for
administration of the Division, Fleet Maintenance, Building Maintenance, Landscape Maintenance, Grounds Maintenance, Parks Maintenance, and Road & Sign Maintenance. The Public Works division is housed at the Maintenance
Facility.

Public
Works utilizes a computerized work order system. The system manages all
work of the Division, except vehicle maintenance, which has its own
fleet maintenance system. In addition to requests from the public and
other Town departments, the system generates routine maintenance jobs on
a weekly, quarterly and annual basis. This system enables the Division
to efficiently manage the work load, making the best use of staff time.
Public Works is primarily a service operation, and we
take pride in responding positively to requests from our residents and
our co-workers. The
best way to understand that Public Works is truly a service operation
is to see how the Division assists other departments. Public Works is
called on to help the Police Department with spills and accident clean
up; the Utilities Department with asphalt repairs due to water line
breaks; and Parks and Recreation with park equipment and electrical
repairs. The Division moves furniture, unloads deliveries, moves files
to storage, and a wide variety of other special requests.
