Indian Creek Park, 1795 Indian Central Blvd, Jupiter, FL 33458
Eco-Island is as the name suggests...Eco-friendly. The structure is made from recycled plastic and aluminum. The 8,500-square-foot playground features rock climbing, tube slides, eight
swings and spider netting.
Eco-Island replaces a very popular playground called Imagination Station. In April of 1993, an estimated 2700 community volunteers helped build
Imagination Station over a 4 day period. The creative and community
funded wooden play structure was the center of play for area children for a decade and a half. But with extensive use and the natural elements wearing away at the playground it was time to replace the old with the new. However, in order to keep alive the memory of Imagination Station, which survived
hurricanes, vandalism
and fires, the town saved a commemorative wooden tower as well as the
original
fence inscribed with the names of volunteers who helped build the
playground.
In keeping with the community theme the name, Eco-Island, and logo were designed by 5th grade students from Jerry Thomas Elementary School.
The playground dedication took place on Thursday, July 21, 2011.
