How do I check to see if a business is registered with the Town of Jupiter?

To verify a business is registered, visit the Click2Gov website.  On the "Welcome to The Town of Jupiter’s Online Business Registration" page look on the left hand side and you will see a "Search Businesses" link.  This will allow you to search for registered Jupiter Businesses.  Or you may also visit our Online Business Directory


How do I check to see if my business tax registration is current?

To verify your business registration is current, visit the Click2Gov website.  On the "Welcome to The Town of Jupiter’s Online Business Registration" page look on the left hand side and you will see a "Search Businesses" link.  Search By: Business Name, type the Business Names exactly as it appears on your registration, click search.  On the Business Search Results page the business name, address and status will appear on the list.


Where can I find the packets/applications online?

To download the packets/applications click here.  On the Business Registration Application/Packets page, all packets/applications are listed and in a PDF format.


Where do I find my PIN and registration number to create my master account?

Your PIN number is provided on your annual renewal notice along with your registration number.  If you cannot locate your renewal notice contact is Angela Carpentiere at  561-741-2139 or e-mail.
When do I have to renew my business registration?
All business registrations expire September 30th.  Business registration renewal notices are mailed in July of every year.


What should I do if I’m going to close my business?

Written notification that a business is no longer operating/closed is required.  Please use the contact information below:


What is the difference between Business Tax Receipt and Occupational License?

In January 2007, the Florida Legislature changed the name of “Occupational Licenses” to Local Business Tax Receipts.  There is no difference between the two, it was a mandated name change only.


Where do I go first Palm Beach County or to the Town of Jupiter?

All businesses located within the Town Limits will need to apply with the Town of Jupiter prior to going to Palm Beach County.  Palm Beach County’s application requires zoning approval prior to Palm Beach County issuing a business tax receipt. 


My insurance has been faxed, has it been updated?

To verify your insurance has been updated, visit the Click2Gov website.  On the "Welcome to The Town of Jupiter’s Online Business Registration" page look on the left hand side and you will see a "Search Businesses" link.  Search By: Business Name, type the Business Names exactly as it appears on you registration, click search.  On the Business Search Results page the business name, address and status will appear on the list.  Click on the business name.  On the Search results page click on the first classification with the status being “Active”.  On the Public License Information page you will see additional requirements.  Your insurance information will be located within this area along with all other required documents and expiration dates.


How do I get a Handy Man License?

Issuance of Handy man registrations were discontinued in 2002 by Palm Beach County.  You can obtain a certificate of competency through Palm Beach County Contractors Certification in a specific field.  For more information call 561-233-5525.  You can also register as an un-licensed sub-contractor; you are required to be working under the direct supervision of a licensed contractor to obtain this registration. 


Can I open my business before I get my business registration?  / Can I operate my business once I apply for my business registration?

Registrations must be obtained prior to opening/operating a business.


What is the difference between a Corporation & Fictitious Name?

Please visit the Division of Corporations at www.Sunbiz.org for details and legalities on filing information regarding Business names.
Example of how names are filed:
If a corporation filed its Articles of Incorporation under the name "Carol´s Enterprises, Inc.", its official name is "Carol´s Enterprises, Inc." If it wishes to transact business under "Carol´s Garden Shop", then it must file a fictitious name registration for "Carol´s Garden Shop". If John Smith and Susan Jones are transacting business as individuals under the name "The Tractor Place", they must file a fictitious name registration for "The Tractor Place".


Can I apply for my business registration on-line?

Currently, this is not available.  Once you are registered you may renew online.


Is a grease trap required for my business?

If you’re business is involved in:
  • Commercial Food Preparation, examples are: restaurants, delis, cafeterias, bakeries, ice cream parlor, etc.
  • Carwash
  • Auto Repair
You may need a grease, sand or oil separator/interceptor.  Please contact Loxahatchee Environmental Control District, Engineering Department at (561)747-5700, ext. 110, for more information on determining what activities would require these types of pre-treatment devices.

**Always remember to ask your realtor if the proposed unit you are planning to lease has the appropriate pre-treatment device.
