| Killane Drive | Capt. Denis Joseph Killane was born October 16, 1905 in Brooklyn, NY and died in Tequesta, Fl. May 9, 2003. He was the son of Dennis Killane and Emma Dalmus. He moved to the area in 1946. He owned and operated Killane’s Tavern of Rosedale, L. I. NY. He was a veteran of WWII serving with the US Army Corps of Engineers. He captained a charter fishing boat called “Ho Hum” for many years. (From Palm Beach Post Obituary) He moved to Jupiter and got a place on the Loxahatchee River. Capt. Killane was an early employee of the Town of Jupiter. Town Council minutes from 1962 - 1969 show him working on such projects as landscaping and cleaning right of way, repairing pot holes and many other jobs. In January of 1984 a suggestion was made by Commissioner Johnston that Pennock Rd. be changed to Killane Rd. in recognition of his service. Ordinance 9-84 renaming N. Pennock Rd. to Killane Dr. was adopted March 6, 1984. |

Pennock affected the lives of everyone in Jupiter for over 50 years.” |

His son, Ed, was an entomologist who worked for the County and made Jupiter a more pleasant place to live by taking measures to control mosquitoes and sand flies. |
