Presented here are the photos and diaries of James Drayton Thompson. The diaries cover the period from September 1, 1915 through March 17, 1916 and then from December 21, 1918 through New Year's Eve until 2:00 AM on January 1, 1919. We are only left to wonder why they stopped there on the morning of the first new year after the Great War.
Mr. Thompson was a Jupiter pioneer child who lived from 1892-1972. The collection of words and pictures span a period from about 1912-1936 and are presented here through the courtesy of his granddaughter, Sue Dewey.
The diaries and photographs were loaned to the Town of Jupiter and to the Jupiter Courier for scanning and archiving. All pages of all the collection's diaries and all of the pictures have been scanned and entered into the Town of Jupiter archives. We invite public input on the diaries. If you see something mentioned that you know about, let us know and we'll post your information and give you credit for it.
If you have your own box of Jupiter history to share, you'll find a home for it here! We'll scan your stuff and place it in the Town archives. Then we'll put it on CD for you and give you back the stuff and the CD!
